Judge Vacates USPS Mail Ballot Rule Injunction After Supreme Court Stay

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani vacated a nationwide injunction on Wednesday that had blocked the U.S. Postal Service from implementing new mail ballot rules for the November 2026 elections. The decision, issued in Boston, came two days after the Supreme Court stayed a separate injunction by the same judge involving the same executive order. Judge Talwani stated she was compelled by the Supreme Court's ruling to lift the injunction in the case brought by the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts. The Postal Service finalized its rule on August 21 and published it in the Federal Register on August 26.
