Judge delays Parton estate hearing to October 20
A Tennessee judge on October 6 granted Bryan Seaver more time to obtain a lawyer and moved a hearing in Dolly Parton’s estate’s lawsuit from October 9 to October 20, leaving a temporary restraining order in place until then. Chancellor I’Ashea L. Myles approved Seaver’s request after he said he lacked the legal knowledge to proceed without retained counsel. The October 20 hearing is to consider whether the temporary order should be converted into an injunction. Seaver’s written response is due October 13, according to court filings described in reports of the case. The lawsuit was brought by Shes Alive LLC, the entity managing and protecting Parton’s professional property and business interests. Its September 22 complaint alleges Seaver, who previously worked as Parton’s head of security, sent threatening communications and sought money from the estate. The estate says the messages threatened harm to its business interests and staff. Seaver denies threatening anyone and has said his words were taken out of context.
