Journalist’s allegation against Rahul Gandhi remains disputed
Journalist Richa Parashar says Rahul Gandhi grabbed and pulled her during a protest march in New Delhi on October 12, before his security personnel pushed her and she fell on steps outside the Supreme Court. Congress has rejected the allegation, and available footage has not clearly established whether Gandhi made physical contact with her. Parashar, a journalist with OneIndia who said she was three months pregnant, described the incident in interviews from a hospital on October 13. She said she was trying to record Gandhi as opposition INDIA bloc leaders marched toward the Supreme Court. According to her account, Gandhi grabbed her hand and pulled her; she then said security personnel pushed her, causing her to fall. She also said her cameraperson fell on top of her amid the crowd and that her phone was damaged. The physical contact remains disputed. Congress leader Alka Lamba dismissed the allegation as political propaganda and questioned the timing of Parashar’s hospital visit and the reported X-ray. Congress representatives and supporters have also argued that circulating footage does not clearly show Gandhi pushing or pulling her.
