Jim Geoghan Co-Creator of Suite Life Dies at 79

Jim Geoghan, a writer and producer whose work significantly shaped television programming for multiple generations, has died at the age of 79. His daughter, Genevieve Geoghan, confirmed his passing on Sunday, September 7, in Los Angeles. The cause of death was not immediately available. Geoghan was married for 45 years to his wife, Annie. Geoghan's career began in the early 1970s as part of the standup comedy trio Divided We Stand. The group performed at prominent New York venues such as the Improvisation Cafe, The Bitter End, and Catch A Rising Star, sharing bills with acts like Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and The Beach Boys. He transitioned into television writing, building an extensive resume that included early credits on sitcoms like "Three's Company," "Sanford," "Too Close for Comfort," "The Facts of Life," and "The Van Dyke Show." During the 1980s, Geoghan became a prolific television writer and producer. He penned 18 episodes of "Silver Spoons" between 1983 and 1987 and also served as a producer on the series. From 1986 to 1990, he was a producer on "It's Garry Shandling's Show.
