Ivan Toney pleads not guilty to assault charge

Published 1 October 2026

Ivan Toney pleaded not guilty on October 1 at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm over an alleged incident at a Soho nightclub. The charge concerns an accusation, not a finding of guilt, and the case remains unresolved. The 30-year-old footballer is accused of assaulting a man at a nightclub on Wardour Street in central London. The alleged incident was reported to have taken place on December 6, 2025. Toney was charged on July 31, 2026, after a Metropolitan Police investigation. Toney appeared at the court in Westminster and entered his plea. The reporting identifies the complainant as Saber Da Silva. No evidence about the alleged incident or account from Da Silva was included in the reports, and they provide no later court ruling. A spokesperson for Toney said he acknowledged the charge, was shocked and looked forward to the opportunity to clear his name in court. Toney had previously denied the allegation through a statement issued on his behalf, according to the reports. The October 1 appearance followed a postponement of an earlier hearing scheduled for September 24.
