Islamabad HC orders end to solitary confinement for Khan, Bibi

The Islamabad High Court has directed jail authorities to end the solitary confinement of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, ruling that their detention conditions must respect fundamental rights to human dignity. In a written verdict issued on September 1, 2026, the court ordered that the couple, currently held at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, should not be subjected to unnecessary social isolation while maintaining necessary security protocols. Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro announced the verdict, holding that petitions challenging the alleged isolation were maintainable.
