Interactive Brokers Adds Ether Staking Through Zerohash
Interactive Brokers announced on October 13 that eligible clients can stake Ether through its Client Portal, adding a rewards feature to the brokerage’s digital-asset services. Zerohash provides the staking service, while clients use the portal to submit requests and monitor activity. The service is initially available to eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients. They can request that Ether be staked or unstaked and track pending activity through a dashboard. When rewards are earned, they are credited to the staked balance and may compound for as long as the Ether remains staked, according to the company’s announcement. The brokerage said the offering gives clients an opportunity to earn rewards on cryptocurrency they own. Chief Executive Milan Galik compared the service with Interactive Brokers’ Stock Yield Enhancement Program, which allows participating clients to earn income on shares they hold. The arrangement separates brokerage access from the handling of staked assets.
