Infant critically injured in pitbull attack in Haryana

A pitbull attack in Sonipat, Haryana, left an infant critically injured, with the incident captured on CCTV footage and sparking calls for a breed ban. The infant, reported as six or seven months old, was mauled while being held by a woman identified as the aunt in most accounts. The attack occurred in Sikka Colony, and the infant was initially treated at a local hospital before being referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak due to the severity of injuries. Dr. Kundan Mittal, a doctor at the institute, stated that the child was admitted on September 14 with severe abdominal trauma, including intestinal protrusion, requiring surgery. He said the infant is now stable and receiving antibiotics and milk via a tube. "The injury was severe; he is just an infant, so the situation could have been dire," Dr. Mittal noted. CCTV footage from the scene shows the dog lunging at the woman carrying the baby, causing them to fall, and then continuing to attack the infant. The footage has been widely shared, raising concerns about pet ownership regulations and the dog owner's negligence.
