IndiGo Raises Fees For Infant Travel, Baggage, Priority Services

IndiGo, India's largest airline, has increased fees for several ancillary services, including infant travel, excess baggage, and priority check-in, according to multiple reports. The changes, which have not been officially announced by the carrier, see the infant travel fee for domestic flights rise to Rs 3,000 from Rs 2,000, a 50% increase. The fee for excess baggage has been raised to Rs 800 per kilogram from Rs 700. The revised charges also apply to other add-on services. The fee for unaccompanied minors has been increased to Rs 5,999 from Rs 5,000. The cost for priority check-in and boarding has gone up to Rs 650 from Rs 450, and the charge for obtaining a travel certificate has been raised to Rs 300 from Rs 200. Sources cited in the reports indicated the revision is part of a periodic review based on prevailing market conditions and rising operational costs. Industry insiders pointed to factors such as consistently higher fuel prices, longer international flight routes due to airspace closures, and subdued demand in the Middle East market as pressures on airlines.
