IndiGo flight diverted to Lucknow after cargo smoke alarm

An IndiGo flight from Agartala to Delhi was diverted to Lucknow on Tuesday evening after a smoke warning was triggered in the aircraft's cargo hold, marking the second such incident at the airport in under two weeks. Flight 6E6504, an Airbus A320neo carrying 103 passengers and six crew members, landed safely at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at 6:29 p.m. local time. The aircraft was received by emergency response teams, including fire and rescue personnel, medical staff, and security, as a precautionary measure. All occupants deboarded without any reported injuries. According to reports, the cockpit crew suspected a fire in the luggage compartment and requested an emergency landing. Flight tracking data confirmed the crew transmitted transponder code 7700, signaling a general emergency, while en route. Lucknow airport authorities activated their full emergency preparedness plan upon receiving the diversion request. An initial technical examination of the cargo bay conducted by ground engineers found no physical evidence of smoke or fire, suggesting the alarm may have been a false trigger. Technical crews were inspecting sensor systems to determine the cause.
