India GST Revenue Rises 14.8% to Rs 1.99 Lakh Crore in August

India's gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue increased by 14.8 percent year-on-year to approximately Rs 1.99 lakh crore in August 2026, according to provisional data released by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday. The collection figure, which translates to Rs 1,99,853 crore, was primarily driven by a significant surge in import revenues, though it represented a slight dip from the Rs 2.11 lakh crore collected in July. The data shows that revenue from domestic transactions rose by a steady 9.3 percent to over Rs 1.37 lakh crore. However, the most substantial growth came from imports, with GST collections on imported goods jumping 29 percent to Rs 62,604 crore.
