India and Ghana exchange two cooperation agreements
India and Ghana exchanged two memoranda of understanding on agricultural research and education, and on academic, scientific research and capacity-building cooperation, during talks between their foreign ministers in Accra. The agreements were witnessed by India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as the two countries discussed expanding their partnership. One agreement links the Indian Council of Agricultural Research with Ghana’s CSIR-Crops Research Institute for cooperation in agricultural research and education. The other establishes cooperation between the Zoological Survey of India and the University of Ghana in academic work, scientific research and capacity building. The reports did not specify implementation schedules, funding or targets for either agreement. Jaishankar also met Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama during his visit, which began October 6 as the first leg of a three-country African tour that includes Côte d’Ivoire and Ethiopia.
