Polish Diplomat Demands Carlson Retract Hitler Remarks
Polish diplomat Bogdan Klich has demanded that Tucker Carlson publicly retract remarks about Adolf Hitler, Poland and Britain’s role in World War II, and apologize. In a letter dated October 5, Klich, Poland’s chargé d’affaires in Washington, called Carlson’s statements about the war’s outbreak false and deeply troubling. Klich said Carlson’s comments about the 1939 German invasion of Poland insulted victims of Nazism, including American service members killed or wounded in the war. He also disputed Carlson’s suggestion that Britain had no reason to enter the conflict, arguing that the United Kingdom and France declared war on Germany not merely because of obligations to allies, but in response to a wider threat posed by Hitler. Carlson made the remarks in a conversation with British politician Jacob Rees-Mogg. Carlson said Hitler had claimed that 15 percent of Poland had once been German and had been transferred to Poland under the Treaty of Versailles. He also questioned Britain’s decision to fight Germany and whether the country was better off for doing so. Rees-Mogg pushed back, saying Britain was right to fight Hitler.
