Houthi attacks wound 73 civilians in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi-led coalition announced on Tuesday that recent Houthi attacks on the kingdom's southern provinces have wounded 73 civilians, including women and children, as cross-border hostilities intensify. Major General Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the coalition, stated that the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeted civilian and economic sites in the Saudi cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran. He described the attacks as a "dangerous escalation" and a "blatant violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty" that posed a direct threat to the kingdom's citizens and residents. The coalition vowed to take all necessary operational measures to deter the Houthi militia and resolutely confront its hostile approach. Al-Maliki affirmed that the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition would respond to the sources of the threat and neutralize their danger to defend the kingdom's sovereignty and ensure the safety of its population. The attacks occurred amid a significant escalation of fighting between the Houthis and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces across several provinces within Yemen. This surge in conflict has shattered a four-year truce in the civil war.
