Iran Highlights India Ties Ahead of BRICS Summit
Iran has emphasized the strategic importance of its relationship with India, highlighting upcoming discussions at the BRICS Summit in New Delhi as an opportunity to deepen trade ties and advance key infrastructure projects. Iranian officials stated that Tehran attaches "great importance" to its longstanding, historic, and civilizational partnership with New Delhi. The remarks come ahead of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to India for the 18th BRICS Leaders Summit, scheduled to take place in New Delhi from September 12 to 13. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei indicated that Iran intends to leverage the multilateral platform to further its commercial collaboration and strategic engagements with India. "We will certainly make use of the opportunity provided by the BRICS Summit to continue our discussions and consultations with India in areas of mutual interest," Baghaei stated. He also noted that India's membership in both the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS makes it a significant partner in international forums.
