Published 2 September 2026

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution on September 1, 2026, denouncing socialism and the Democratic Socialists of America, in a vote that highlighted deep partisan divisions and internal Democratic tensions ahead of the midterm elections. The measure, House Resolution 1490, passed 220 to 192, with 192 Democrats opposing it, eight Democrats voting in favor, and two Democrats voting present.
