Hezbollah Announces Year-Long Aid Plan for Displaced Families
Hezbollah announced a year-long assistance plan for families whose primary homes were destroyed or made uninhabitable during the war with Israel, offering up to $14,000 per eligible household in Beirut and its southern suburbs and $12,000 elsewhere in Lebanon. Executive Council head Ali Daamoush said the payments would be made in four instalments. The group has not disclosed the programme’s total budget or the number of households it expects to assist. Under the plan announced at a news conference on October 13, the first instalment is set at $3,500 for eligible households in Beirut and its southern suburbs and $3,000 elsewhere. The full allowance includes $8,000 for furniture in both areas, with the remaining $6,000 or $4,000, respectively, designated for rent. Daamoush said the programme covers qualifying primary residences that were destroyed, severely damaged or rendered uninhabitable, including homes in areas occupied by Israel. Households that own a second home are excluded. Eligibility and assistance would depend on assessments of property damage, he said.
