HDFC Bank CEO Jagdishan to retire Oct 26, not seek reappointment

Sashidhar Jagdishan, the managing director and chief executive officer of HDFC Bank, has decided not to seek reappointment and will retire from India's largest private-sector lender when his current term ends on October 26, 2026. The bank's board announced the decision in a stock exchange filing on August 29, stating it had taken note of Jagdishan's communication and that he had reiterated his position despite persuasion. The board expressed its appreciation for Jagdishan's leadership, particularly his role in guiding the bank through the successful completion of its merger with parent company HDFC, one of the largest corporate mergers in Indian history.
