HBO Adds Goodman, Alexander and Bailey to The Last of Us

HBO has added John Goodman, Ian Alexander and Laura Bailey to the cast of The Last of Us for its third season, assigning them roles distinct from characters Alexander and Bailey played in the video games. Goodman will play Joey, Alexander will play Paco, and Bailey will portray Elizabeth, a leader of the Seraphites, HBO announced September 26. Joey and Paco are described as a friendly pair who call themselves the Heroes of the Highway. HBO has not disclosed further details about the three characters’ roles in the season. The Seraphites are a religious group in the series’ post-apocalyptic world. Alexander and Bailey have previous ties to The Last of Us Part II, the game on which the television story draws. Alexander voiced and performed Lev, while Bailey played Abby. In the series, Lev is played by Kyriana Kratter and Abby by Kaitlyn Dever. The new casting therefore brings both performers back to the franchise in different roles. Bailey also appeared briefly in the first season of the television adaptation as a Firefly nurse, according to reports about the casting. Goodman joins the series as a new addition to the franchise.
