Harry speaks at Ukraine fundraiser as William backs charity ball

Published 2 October 2026

Prince Harry attended the United for Freedom fundraising gala at London’s Imperial War Museum on Thursday, speaking about people he said he had met in Ukraine who had lost limbs, homes and loved ones. The event raised money for charities supporting Ukraine. In remarks described in reports of the speech, Harry referred to his visits to the country and the impact of the conflict on people there. He said those he met had found strength to rebuild, and urged that their resilience not become a reason for others to tolerate their suffering. He also praised members of the Ukrainian Invictus community, saying that people who had suffered life-changing injuries continued to compete, lead and look to the future. The gala was held as the conflict in Ukraine continued. One account said Harry’s memoir, Spare, was among items offered at the event’s auction. The sources did not provide a total raised or further details about the charities benefiting from the fundraiser. Separately, Prince William appeared by prerecorded video at the inaugural Bowelbabe Fund Rebel Ball at the Hurlingham Club in London.
