Hamilton Calls for Ferrari Rules of Engagement

Lewis Hamilton finished sixth at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, a result he described as "tough to swallow," after an early incident with teammate Charles Leclerc and subsequent strategic decisions compromised his race. The incident occurred on the opening lap at Monza when Hamilton, starting fourth, moved to the inside of Leclerc heading into the first chicane. Leclerc held his line, leading to slight contact and sending Hamilton onto the gravel on the exit of Turn 2, dropping him to tenth place. Hamilton stated he was ahead by the apex of Turn 2, asserting that the incident was not a shared responsibility. Leclerc, who later crashed out of the race on lap two at the final corner, described the first-corner move as too close and admitted he did not make the corner tightly enough. Following the red flag caused by Leclerc's crash, the race restarted with Hamilton on medium tires. He did not pit under a subsequent mid-race virtual safety car, a decision that allowed other drivers, including Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen, to gain an advantage. Hamilton ultimately struggled on worn tires, losing further positions and finishing a distant sixth.
