A controversial minigame involving sexual activity has been removed from the early access version of "Halloween The Game" just ahead of its official launch. The game, developed by IllFonic, is set to be fully released on September 8, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Players who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition gained early access and discovered a minigame that allowed two characters to hide in a closet together. Upon initiating the interaction with an "Ask Out" prompt, players would engage in a button-mashing sequence to fill an on-screen heart, granting both characters a "Stronger Together" buff. The feature sparked significant backlash online after videos of the minigame went viral. Critics pointed out that the mechanic allowed older playable characters, such as Dr. Samuel Loomis, to engage in sexual activity with teenage characters from the film franchise. This pairing of adult or elderly characters with minors was widely condemned. In response to the growing controversy, IllFonic issued a statement confirming the removal of the "TwoPerson PowerUp" minigame through a recent hotfix.
