GTA 6 gameplay reveal breaks Netflix viewership records

Published 2 September 2026

Grand Theft Auto 6 has shattered viewership records on Netflix, with its exclusive gameplay reveal becoming the platform's most-watched release last week, according to a report from Variety. The "GTA 6 Extended Look" presentation, which served as a temporary exclusive on the streaming service before its release on YouTube, amassed 31.1 million views on Netflix alone. This figure significantly outpaced its YouTube viewership, which stood at just under 18 million views, demonstrating the immense anticipation for the game despite a recent leak of gameplay footage. The Netflix exclusive strategy, while controversial for requiring a subscription to view the reveal immediately, proved to be a massive success for Rockstar Games. The presentation offered an extended look at the game, which is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. The high viewership occurred even as a person or group using the name "Cyberleek" leaked full gameplay clips in the days prior, claiming access to a playable build. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, is currently investigating the source of the leak.
