Greece Lists First Four Providers Under EU MiCA Rules
Greece has entered the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) register for the first time, with four providers listed as authorized under the bloc’s crypto regulatory framework. The European Securities and Markets Authority’s latest register names BCash, Xenios Blockchain Group, Capital Wallet Greece and Piraeus Bank among 359 providers across the EU. The register identifies Greece’s Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) as the competent authority for BCash, Xenios Blockchain Group and Capital Wallet Greece. The Bank of Greece is listed for Piraeus Bank. The entries show that responsibility for supervising cryptoasset services in Greece is divided between the two authorities. The register update, dated September 24, also added six providers from Germany, France and Slovenia. Together with the four Greek entities, those additions brought the register’s total to 359 unique cryptoasset service providers. MiCA establishes a common authorization framework for cryptoasset services across the EU. Providers authorized in one member state can use the regulation’s passporting system to offer services in other EU countries, subject to its rules.
