Fox Orders 'Mammoth' Comedy From 'Modern Family' Team

Fox has ordered a new live-action comedy series titled "Mammoth," marking the network's first half-hour comedy series order in over two years. The show is an American adaptation of the BBC Two hit of the same name and is set to premiere during the 2027-28 television season. The series comes from the creative team behind the long-running ABC sitcom "Modern Family." Christopher Lloyd, a co-creator and executive producer of "Modern Family," and Danny Zuker, a writer and executive producer on that show, will serve as co-writers, co-showrunners, and executive producers for "Mammoth." This project marks Lloyd's return to Fox, where he previously co-created the 2007 sitcom "Back to You." The show's premise follows Coach Tony Mammoth, a larger-than-life high school gym teacher. In 1983, he is buried in a freak ski avalanche, effectively putting his life on ice. Forty years later, he thaws out to a present-day world that has changed dramatically, though he remains convinced it didn't need to.
