DreamWorks Animation's original animated feature Forgotten Island has earned a 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score ahead of its September 25, 2026 theatrical release, making it the studio's highest-rated film on the review aggregator. The score, drawn from 21 to 22 reviews depending on the count at the time of reporting, surpasses How to Train Your Dragon and Shrek. Reviewers noted the percentage could change as additional critics weigh in. Directed and written by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, who previously directed Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, the film follows two best friends, Jo, voiced by H.E.R., and Raissa, voiced by Liza Soberano, who pass through a portal into the mythical island of Nakali and must find their way home before their shared memories are lost. The cast also includes Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, Jenny Slate, Ronny Chieng, Dolly De Leon, Jo Koy and Lea Salonga, who voices the Manananggal, a creature from Filipino folklore. The film represents the first major Hollywood feature-length animated production inspired by Filipino culture and mythology, and it marks DreamWorks' 50th theatrical feature.
