Flyers Sign Michael Bunting to One-Year, $1.2 Million Deal
The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Michael Bunting to a one-year contract worth $1.2 million, adding an experienced scorer as the team tries to address a winless start to the 2026-27 season. Philadelphia confirmed the agreement on Tuesday, October 6, after the deal was first reported by TSN’s Darren Dreger. The signing follows a difficult opening stretch for the Flyers. Reports published Tuesday described the team as having lost its first four games, though an earlier account put its record at 0-2, reflecting coverage at different points. One report said Philadelphia had scored five goals through its first four contests and had not converted on any of 10 power-play opportunities. Bunting, 31, recorded 33 points in 74 games last season, splitting his time between the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars. He had 13 goals and 18 assists in 61 games with Nashville before being traded to Dallas ahead of the trade deadline. With the Stars, he recorded one goal and one assist in 13 games, according to one account. He became an unrestricted free agent after his previous contract expired this summer.
