Final Fantasy VII Revelation to Feature Branching Side Quests

Published 23 September 2026

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will offer side quests that change according to which character leads them, giving players different story perspectives, gameplay and conclusions. Director Naoki Hamaguchi said a single playthrough is expected to be about the size of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but it will not show everything the team has built into the upcoming game. Hamaguchi said players can choose the character at the forefront of certain quests, and that the choice can affect how those quests unfold. He described the variations as part of an effort to make the experience and the characters’ feelings toward the final battle differ. The remarks do not establish how many playthroughs are needed to see every variation or whether players can revisit specific quests without replaying the game. The director also said the game will provide more onscreen guidance than previous titles to help players navigate its world. After players said that guidance could feel too strong, the development team began considering options to let them customize how it is presented. Hamaguchi did not specify what settings might be offered or confirm that customization will be included in the released game.
