Final Fantasy VII Revelation Sets April 2027 Launch
Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding entry in Square Enix's remake trilogy, will launch on April 8, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game was shown in hands-on preview form at Gamescom 2026, where journalists described a dramatically expanded open world centered on the airship Highwind, which players can fly anywhere in the world before parachuting down to any point on the map. The Highwind itself is fully explorable and evolves as players complete activities on the ground, according to director Naoki Hamaguchi. The previews also detailed a new combat customization system called FITS, short for Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear, which lets characters switch between Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner roles mid-battle, each with distinct outfits, abilities, and stat advantages. Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine join the playable roster, with Vincent able to transform into his Galian Beast form and Cid fighting with airborne combos. The returning Queens Blood card game comes back in an expanded version, framed as a Red XIII storyline rather than Cloud's, according to a Square Enix representative.
