FBI Season 9 Opens With OA Undercover After His Firing
FBI’s ninth season opened with Omar Adom “OA” Zidan working undercover after being fired from the bureau, while his longtime partner Maggie Bell adjusted to a new assignment with Special Agent Isaiah Green. The premiere, “Rendition,” continued the story from the season eight finale, leaving OA outside his regular team as he gathers information on a government strike team led by Anna Vorpe. The operation puts OA in a difficult position: reports of the premiere’s plot say he learns that the team uses torture and covers up civilian casualties. Showrunner Mike Weiss said the strike team’s actions are covered by a Title 50 national-security exemption, which prevents the FBI from simply intervening. He said OA’s assignment is to get closer to Anna and identify who is protecting her. The episode does not resolve when or how OA will return to the bureau. Only Isobel Castille and Maggie know the purpose of OA’s undercover work in the premiere’s setup, according to Weiss. Other members of the team, including Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine and Special Agent Stuart Scola, are not informed.
