Exein Raises $270M at $1.7B Valuation for Physical AI Security
Exein, a Rome-based cybersecurity startup focused on securing physical AI systems, has raised $270 million in a funding round that values the company at $1.7 billion. The investment, led by venture capital firm Headline, marks a 30-fold increase in the company's valuation over the past two years. The funding round was significantly oversubscribed and included new investors Sofina, Goldman Sachs, the European Investment Bank Group through its European Tech Champions Initiative, KfW Capital, and T.Capital. Existing backers such as Balderton Capital, HV Capital, Lakestar, and Intrepid Growth Partners also participated. In a separate move, J.P. Morgan led an increase to Exein's revolving credit facility, with German state development bank KfW joining as a lender. Exein's technology is deployed across more than two billion devices in sectors including automotive, energy, robotics, and industrial automation. The company reported that its annual recurring revenue in the first half of 2026 quadrupled year-over-year. It now encounters approximately 5,000 new, non-repetitive attacks each week across its network, a fivefold increase from a year ago.
