Earthshot Prize Announces 2026 Finalists and Mumbai Ceremony
Prince William has announced the 15 finalists for his Earthshot Prize, a global environmental award now in its sixth year, and revealed that the 2026 awards ceremony will be held in Mumbai, India, on November 17. The event will be hosted by Indian filmmaker Karan Johar. The finalists were selected from nearly 7,000 nominations across 169 countries. They compete for one of five £1 million prizes designed to scale their environmental solutions. The categories are Protect and Restore Nature, Fix Our Climate, Build a Waste-Free World, Revive Our Oceans, and Clean Our Air. Among the finalists are Satellites on Fire, an Argentinian AI-powered wildfire detection platform; Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, an Indian company transforming three-wheelers into electric vehicles; and the Yellowstone to Yukon project, which aims to reconnect a vast mountain landscape across the US and Canada for wildlife. Other finalists include the Danish renewable energy company Ørsted, the city of Barcelona, and the Niue Ocean Wide Trust. Prince William stated that the finalists give him "renewed optimism.
