Dylan Sprouse Compares Child Acting to Child Labor

Actor Dylan Sprouse has spoken candidly about his experience as a child performer, comparing the demands of early acting careers to "child labor" and detailing the lasting mental effects that have followed him into adulthood. The 34-year-old actor shared his perspective during a recent episode of his podcast, "Wildmen," co-hosted with Brendan Columbus. Sprouse, who rose to fame alongside his twin brother Cole Sprouse on the Disney Channel series "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," described the professional environment of television acting as akin to a full-time job. "You go in, you clock in, you clock out, you have a cubicle, you work," Sprouse explained, noting that while the setting differs from a traditional office, the hours and structure can be similar. He drew a stark comparison to historical child labor, stating, "Some kids used to work in coal mines and guard the mine cart door when they were 15, we just sang and danced. It's still child labor." The actor revealed that working from such a young age has created ongoing challenges.
