Drishyam 3 Ahlawat clarifies new role

Jaideep Ahlawat has clarified that his role in the upcoming film Drishyam 3 is an entirely new addition and not a replacement for Akshaye Khanna's character. The film is slated for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026. Ahlawat, speaking at the trailer launch event, stated that the script was reworked to introduce his character as an original element with an individualistic approach. He explained that the narrative does not frame his role as a successor to Khanna's character, alleviating any pressure he might have felt. "One character's journey ends and another character's journey starts," Ahlawat said. "I won't benefit from taking pressure from that character. There is no comparison for me as an actor because the journey is going to be completely new." Ajay Devgn, who also stars in the film, elaborated on the plot's progression. He explained that the police were unable to solve the case in previous installments, leading to the investigation being taken over by the Crime Branch. This shift, Devgn noted, introduces a new investigative approach and increases the stakes, thereby avoiding repetition from earlier films.
