Drakeo the Ruler Estate Reaches Conditional Settlement

Published 15 October 2026

Drakeo the Ruler’s estate has reached a conditional settlement with Live Nation and several other companies over claims stemming from the rapper’s fatal stabbing at a Los Angeles music festival, according to a court notice described in reports published Wednesday. The notice says specified terms must be completed within 45 days for the settled claims to be dismissed. It does not disclose the terms or say whether they have been fulfilled. Darrylene Corniel, Drakeo’s mother and administrator of his estate, brought claims against Live Nation, C3 Presents, Contemporary Services Corporation, Black Tide Events, Bobby Dee Presents and Hollywood Elite Security. The case concerned Drakeo’s death backstage at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. festival on December 18, 2021. He was stabbed shortly before he was scheduled to perform. The settlement addresses the estate’s claims, but does not resolve separate litigation, according to the court filing coverage. Claims brought on behalf of Drakeo’s son, along with negligence claims by his brother, bodyguard Alrick David Cooper III and friends who were backstage, remain consolidated and were reported set for trial in Los Angeles next month.
