DoorDash has opened a U.S. waitlist for an AI agent that lets customers order food through Apple Messages without opening the DoorDash app, introducing a text-based option that draws on account history and preferences. The agent can use a stored payment method, according to descriptions of the service. DoorDash says the system can search nearby restaurants and send photos of recommended items. It is also designed to accommodate group orders with differing dietary needs. One reported capability involves suggesting recipes and missing ingredients from a photo of a refrigerator. These functions are product descriptions; the available reporting does not independently verify most of them. The waitlist is for U.S.
