Dodgers beat Braves 3-1, take 2-1 NLDS lead
The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 3-1 in Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Tuesday, taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series behind seven strong innings from Yoshinobu Yamamoto and fourth-inning home runs by Kiké Hernández and Freddie Freeman. Yamamoto allowed one run on four hits, walked one and struck out 10. The Braves loaded the bases in the fifth inning, but scored only when Drake Baldwin grounded out, then failed to bring home another run. Yamamoto retired Ronald Acuña Jr. to end the threat and did not allow another baserunner before leaving after seven innings. Los Angeles broke a scoreless tie in the fourth. After Andy Pages singled, Hernández hit a two-run homer off Atlanta starter Chris Sale. Freeman followed with a solo shot, making it 3-0. The Dodgers had left scoring chances unused earlier, including a bases-loaded opportunity in the third, when Braves left fielder Mauricio Dubón caught Freeman’s deep fly at the wall. Sale gave up three runs and seven hits over five innings and struck out seven. Atlanta managed five hits and two walks overall, according to the game account, and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
