Disney+ Developing Live-Action Kane Chronicles Series From Rick Riordan

Disney is expanding its partnership with author Rick Riordan by developing a live-action television series based on his Egyptian mythology trilogy, The Kane Chronicles. The project, which is in early development at Disney+ and 20th Television, marks the second attempt to adapt the books after a previous film adaptation at Netflix was scrapped. The series will be developed by Riordan and his wife and creative partner, Rebecca Riordan, alongside Angela Robinson, known for her work on True Blood, How to Get Away with Murder, and The L Word. Executive producers also include Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell of The Gotham Group. The adaptation is based on Riordan's bestselling trilogy, which includes The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire, and The Serpent's Shadow. The story follows siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, who discover they are descendants of the pharaohs Narmer and Ramses the Great. Their lives change when their father, Egyptologist Julius Kane, unleashes the Egyptian god of chaos and vanishes. The estranged siblings must then master their inherited Egyptian magic, form alliances, and work to rescue their father while preventing warring gods from devastating the modern world.
