Disney+ and Hulu Raise Ad-Free Plans to $21.49
Disney has raised U.S. subscription prices for Disney+ and Hulu, with the ad-free plans increasing by $2.50 a month to $21.49. The new rates took effect September 23 for new subscribers, and existing customers are expected to see them on their next monthly bill, according to reports on the pricing changes. The monthly price of each service’s ad-supported standalone plan rose by 50 cents, from $11.99 to $12.49. Disney’s ad-free Disney+-Hulu bundle increased from $19.99 to $21.99. At the new rates, the bundle costs 50 cents more than either ad-free service on its own. Reports agree that the ad-supported bundle is priced at $12.99, but differ on whether that represents a 50-cent increase or no change. Disney’s pricing information had not been consistently updated across materials during the rollout, leaving the prior rate unclear in some accounts. The bundle’s current listed price is therefore clear, but the size of any increase is disputed. The price changes also affect some packages that include ESPN. The Disney, Hulu and ESPN Select bundle is listed at $21.99 a month with ads and $32.99 without ads. The Disney, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited bundles remain at $35.99 with ads and $44.
