Digger Trailer Drops Ahead of October 2 Release
Warner Bros. has released the final trailer for "Digger," the upcoming satirical film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and starring Tom Cruise. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical and IMAX release on October 2, 2026. In "Digger," Cruise portrays Digger Rockwell, an immensely powerful oil tycoon whose actions have contributed to a global environmental catastrophe. The film follows Rockwell's frantic mission to prove himself humanity's savior and avert the disaster he helped unleash. Reports indicate the film is a dark comedy and political satire, a departure from Cruise's recent action-oriented roles. Cruise undergoes a significant physical transformation for the part, appearing with thinning grey hair, prosthetics, a noticeable belly, and a broad accent, presenting a character audiences have reportedly "literally never seen before." Director Iñárritu described the film's core as a disaster movie where the primary disaster is humanity itself, revolving around themes of greed, power, and responsibility. The ensemble cast includes Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jesse Plemons. The screenplay was co-written by Iñárritu with Alexander Dinelaris Jr.
