Digger Takes in $1.2 Million in Thursday Previews

Published 2 October 2026

Tom Cruise’s Digger earned $1.2 million in domestic Thursday preview screenings ahead of its October 2 North American release, while Warner Bros. is forecasting an opening weekend of $12 million to $15 million, according to reported box-office figures and studio expectations. The preview total was reported by multiple accounts, though those reports trace to a shared information origin. The opening estimate is attributed to Warner Bros.; another report said forecasts had fallen from an earlier $18 million to $20 million range to the current projection. The film’s weekend gross was not yet available on October 2, so the preview figure does not establish its final opening result. Directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Digger stars Cruise as an oil tycoon whose company causes an environmental disaster. The film also features Riz Ahmed, John Goodman and Sandra Hüller. It is a satirical project that differs from the action franchises most associated with Cruise, and its critical reception has been divided. Reports published around the release placed its Rotten Tomatoes critics score between 50% and 53%, snapshots that may change as reviews are added. Warner Bros.
