Delhi deploys 15,000 police for BRICS Summit security

Delhi Police has mobilized approximately 15,000 personnel and around 200 companies of paramilitary forces to secure the 18th BRICS Summit, which is scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. The two-day gathering will bring together Heads of State, Heads of Government, ministers and foreign delegations, with representatives from China, Russia, the UK and Egypt among those expected to attend. India is hosting the summit under the theme Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability. Special Commissioner of Police, Protective Security Division, Manish Kumar Agrawal told a press conference that a multilayered security framework has been put in place covering the summit venue, airports receiving dignitaries, hotels where they are staying, and locations where scheduled or unscheduled meetings may occur. While ensuring the safety of visiting leaders and delegations, our goal is to ensure a safe, secure, and seamless event that causes minimal inconvenience to the public, he said.
