Debby Ryan Details Life-Altering Brain Injury From Fifth Concussion

Published 18 September 2026

Actress Debby Ryan has revealed she suffered a "life-altering brain injury" from a fifth concussion that left her disabled for about six months and continues to cause debilitating migraines. The former Disney Channel star, 33, shared her experience during an interview on the YouTube series Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals, published on September 15, 2026. Ryan explained that she has endured five concussions in her life. The first four were caused by singular, blunt-impact incidents. However, the fifth concussion, which occurred a few years ago, was different. "The fifth one was sustained shaking over like a minute of time," Ryan said. She did not disclose the specific circumstances that caused the shaking. The injury had severe and lasting consequences. "I had a pretty crazy, life-altering brain injury a few years ago, and I was out of commission for like six months," Ryan stated. She subsequently underwent six months of neurological rehabilitation, but said the treatment was unsuccessful and ultimately made her symptoms worse. Ryan then tried what she described as a "fringe science treatment" that she said was "really sci-fi and crazy.
