Danielle O’Keane dies after Dublin rickshaw collision

Published 2 October 2026

Danielle O’Keane, 37, has died after suffering a severe brain injury in a collision involving a rickshaw in Dublin following a Westlife concert, according to a death notice and reports from her family. The notice states that she died on October 1, 2026, as a result of an accident. O’Keane, a mother of two from Newry, had attended the concert at the 3Arena with friends on September 26. She was travelling by rickshaw toward Dublin city centre to meet her husband and other friends when the collision occurred on North Wall Quay at about 11 p.m., according to accounts reported by her relatives. Her brother-in-law, Derek, said a companion told him the rickshaw hit a kerb and toppled, leaving O’Keane with a catastrophic brain injury. Her sister-in-law, Aisling, gave a separate account in which the rickshaw clipped a divider and tipped, and O’Keane fell as a car approached. The supplied accounts do not establish independently how the collision unfolded or how she came into contact with the car. O’Keane was taken to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, where she received treatment for serious injuries.
