Cuban delegation walks out as Trump calls Cuba failed state

President Donald Trump declared Cuba an absolutely failed state during his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, prompting the Cuban delegation to walk out of the hall as he spoke. Trump said his administration is seeking a fundamental change in the situation in Cuba, where the communist regime is under the biggest pressure it has ever faced. It is an absolutely failed state, it is failing like never before, and it will fall, Trump said. He added that communism will never be coming to America, but freedom will be coming to Cuba. The Cuban delegation left the room during the remarks. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who led the delegation to New York, accused Trump of spreading falsehoods about the island. Rodriguez wrote on X that the United States government is incapable of accepting that Cuba is and has the right to be a full sovereign and independent country, and that none of the falsehoods by the US President at the UN can deny that fact. He also said Cuba is a country of peace and deserves peace. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, who did not attend the General Assembly, responded on X.
