Corendon Flight Lands Safely After Hijack Alert

Published 14 October 2026

A Corendon Airlines flight from Corfu to Nuremberg landed safely on Tuesday, October 13, after a hijack alert and loss of radio contact triggered a multinational safety response and a temporary closure of Nuremberg Airport. Police inspected the aircraft after it arrived and reported finding no danger. German police said the cockpit transmitted hijack code 7500 and the pilot could not be reached by radio. The loss of contact prompted safety procedures, including the scramble of two German Eurofighter jets, which escorted the passenger aircraft to Nuremberg, according to a German air force spokesperson. Reports also said a Croatian Rafale fighter jet was sent to intercept the Boeing 737 while it was in Croatian airspace. The alert had been transmitted there, according to Corendon. Accounts described military aircraft accompanying the passenger plane before the German fighters continued the escort. The sources do not provide a directly quoted Croatian authority’s account of the Rafale’s role. Nuremberg Airport briefly suspended operations while authorities responded. Flights later resumed.
