Constance Zimmer says she is cancer-free after DCIS treatment

Published 5 October 2026

Actor Constance Zimmer said she was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ, or DCIS, which she described as Stage 0 breast cancer, on March 13 and has since completed treatment that included three surgeries and radiation. In an Instagram post published October 4, Zimmer said she is now cancer-free and that her treatment preserved her breast. Zimmer said she received the diagnosis while away from home and kept it private as she continued a public press tour for the series Love Story. She described the news and the period that followed as emotionally difficult, writing that she had to consult more doctors than she would have liked. She said she first called her husband, Russ Lamoureux, and returned home to tell their daughter in person. Zimmer said a mastectomy was among the options suggested to remove the affected tissue, but she did not want that procedure. She credited breast surgeon Kristi Funk with discussing a lumpectomy as an alternative. Zimmer said the approach required three surgeries over three consecutive weeks, followed by radiation, and that it allowed her to keep her breast.
