Conflicting Accounts on Harry and Meghan Apology Plan

Published 8 October 2026

Reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to apologize to Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, remain disputed, with unnamed sources offering conflicting accounts and no public confirmation from the couple. One source cited in a report said Meghan was willing to apologize over the couple’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey; another source close to Harry and Meghan dismissed the reported plan as nonsense. The conflicting accounts do not establish whether the couple is considering an apology or a conversation with William and Catherine. The denial addressed the specific claim of an imminent apology, but does not rule out other forms of future contact. No meeting between the two couples or timetable for reconciliation has been confirmed in the reports. The reported apology would concern the Sussexes’ remarks during the televised interview, in which Meghan said there had been concerns and conversations within the royal family about how dark the skin of her son Archie might be before his birth. Neither Harry nor Meghan identified the family member involved.
