Colts Agree to Trade Nelson and Buckner for Draft Picks

Published 27 October 2026

The Indianapolis Colts agreed to trade guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers on October 27, adding three draft picks as the team reshapes its roster during a three-game losing streak. Nelson’s trade was reported as pending a physical; Buckner’s deal also requires him to pass a physical before it can be finalized. Seattle will send Indianapolis a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick for Nelson, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection. The 30-year-old is in the final year of his contract, and the Colts had not reached an extension agreement with him before the season. Indianapolis is expected to turn to rookie Jalen Farmer at left guard, though Seattle has not confirmed how it will arrange its offensive line with Nelson. San Francisco will send the Colts a 2027 fourth-round pick for Buckner, a three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle returning to the team that drafted him seventh overall in 2016. A person familiar with the agreement said the trade could not be finalized until Buckner passes a physical. He spent four seasons with the 49ers before joining Indianapolis in 2020 and has four sacks this season....
