CMC Launches Crackdown After Deadly Building Collapse

Two workers were killed when an unauthorized, under-construction building collapsed in the Anjaiah Nagar area of Gachibowli on August 22. In response, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has launched a sweeping enforcement drive against illegal constructions, suspending a municipal officer and seeking criminal charges against the property owners. The collapse, which occurred in the Serilingampally Mandal of Ranga Reddy district, involved a seven-storey structure with a penthouse built on a plot of approximately 50 to 60 square yards. The deceased were identified as Mahtab and Umesh, migrant workers from Madhya Pradesh. The incident also damaged a neighboring apartment complex.
